Family Album // Spring Break
We went back and forth about taking any kind of trip over spring break. In the end, we decided on a road trip to Orlando. We are a Marriott family and one of our favorite resorts there (non-Disney) has a pretty awesome lazy river. So, we packed an impressive amount of junk into the car and we were off!
This pocket page spread is 99.9% Studio Calico. I put it together for one of their NSD crop challenges. The cards and embellishments are all from the Alfresco Documenter kit. The only exceptions are the stamps: a basic roller date stamp , "take a break" on the pink vellum speech bubble, "poolside" on vellum journaling (same set), and the alpha stamp (old Kelly Purkey) for "spring break."
For the title card, I stamped directly on the photo. Starting with "spring," I used scrap washi tape to mask a small part of the letters. I repeated the same technique (I'm using that term loosely) for "break." Then I added a chipboard embellishment and stamped the dates of the trip. One of my favorite embellishments from the kit were the vellum speech bubbles. I used three of them for this layout. The pack includes quite a few. For the bottom left card, I printed out four 2x2 square photos (using the picframe app) and stapled them to the card. I know, this is advanced stuff. Bottom right I added some journaling on vellum and stamped the Christine Herrin stamp set sold by Kelly Purkey (linked above). By the way, this spread includes a picture of me in a bathing suit...and if you knew me you would think hell had frozen over. But I'm trying to remind myself that these stories are more important than my stupid issues. Besides, someday, when I'm 90, I'm going to look at that picture and be really proud ;)
Right side starts with another stamped vellum embellishment. Top right is a collage of photos (created in picframe, linked above), and a stapled label with a sprinkle of journaling. That label is actually stamped with a tiny "best friends" stamp, which I am going to have to track down. I'll add that in the comments when I come across it. Funny sidenote: I was torn about the placement of this label. It's the spot that makes the most sense to make, aesthetically....but it covers Jenn's absolutely adorable baby bump. Tough choices, right? The other cards include a few more chipboard pieces and vellum bubbles, all from the SC kit (linked above). The bottom right photo is our windshield right as we started the drive home (boo), then a trimmed 3x4 card and a few stickers.
Drawing on my vast experience (eye roll), I don't seem to do many spreads all from one kit. Not necessarily on purpose. But I felt like it was appropriate for the challenge (which I didn't win, by the way). It's probably one of my favorites. Thanks for stopping by!!!
